Posted on 2009-04-26 KATHMANDU: Skoda Laura and Octavia, the two popular brands of Skoda Auto - a Czech company - rolled in the Nepali market from Friday.
Axel Andreas, Skoda´s regional manager for Asia on Thursday announced the appointment of Morang Auto Works (MAW), the authorized distributor of Yamaha motorcycles in Nepal, as the authorized distributor of Skoda Auto in Nepal and formal launch of the cars on Thursday.
According to a statement, the cars manufactured in Czech Republic operate with engines produced by Volkswagen. In Nepal, the company has mainly eyed to cater to the taste of the higher-middle income groups who prefer sedan cars.
"We have introduced Laura and Octavia only after studying in detail the road conditions, quality of diesel available here and other key factors for three years,” Andreas told the press, adding that the newly launched two special sedans will perform well in the Nepali conditions.
Bishnu Agrawal, MAW chief executive, said that Skoda sedans have more features compared to other sedans and deliver a mileage of 17 kilometers per liter of diesel in the Nepali urban roads conditions. “They come with a rough road package, such as higher ground clearance and special shield against mud, making the drive smooth on muddy roads as well,” he added.
